Long Beach Crawfish Festival

This weekend is the Long Beach Crawfish Festival!! http://www.longbeachcrawfishfestival.com/ It's going to be a great time, with delicious food and drinks and fantastic music to dance to! ♫ ♪ ♫

This will be the 18th annual Crawfish festival, and it is being held at the Rainbow Lagoon in Long Beach, California. It will be like going on a trip to Louisiana with authentic Cajun chefs and of course, the star of the show, the Crawfish. A crawfish boil is a Louisiana tradition; you boil crawfish, corn and potatoes in steaming seasoned water. The seasonings permeate everything for a mouth watering feast.

There is even chicory coffee and sweet and delicious beignets to try.  For those of you that don't know what chicory coffee is, it is the root of the endive plant ground up and added to the coffee. This adds an almost chocolate-like flavor to the coffee. Of course a beignet is fried dough with powdered sugar; a perfect dessert!

Of course, what party is complete without music...and the Crawfish Festival pulls out all the stops for an authentic Louisiana style party! There will be Cajun, Zydeco and other New Orleans styles of music to dance to.  The music will be playing all day and there will even be some dance instruction. A.J. Gibbs the "Mydeco Dance King" will be teaching Zydeco dance with some freestyle dance thrown in for his own version of dancing. Everyone needs to join the Conga line with the Louisiana to L.A. Society Second Line Dancers led by Lewis Holt and the New Orleans High Steppers.

Come on down this weekend and join the fun!
